Basalt fibers

A Basalt fiber is a composition of short basalt filaments of a certain length.

The advantage of basalt products are their significantly higher elasticity compared to glass fibers and polypropylene fibers. With this they proved to be a exceptional reinforcement material for composite materials.

One application of basalt fibers is the reinforcement of concrete. The specification of concrete such as bending and tensile strength, crack resistance, durability can be increased many times, what will then increase the stability of the concrete structures but at the same time reduce their weight.

IMIDA GmbH distributes basalt endless fibers (roving), chopped fiber, basalt fabrics and basalt mesh. If you are interested in other basalt products, feel free to contact us. We will find a solution!

Key features

  • higher Young's modulus; important for the use as reinforcement in concrete
